The test for admissibility of recent complaint evidence in sexual offence cases is not limited to whether the complaint was made at the 'earliest reasonable opportunity' but extends to whether, having regard to all the circumstances (including the complainant's age, reasons for delay, and spontaneity of the complaint), the complaint is capable of supporting the credibility of the complainant. Whether the complaint has that capacity is a question for the judge; whether it in fact supports credibility is for the jury.
