Where the complainant's evidence, if accepted, establishes approximately 15 sexual offences over 18 months, a direction that the Crown must prove three or more offences of a sexual nature is adequate without a separate direction on the 'relationship' element of s 229B. Acquittals on specific date-dependent counts are not inconsistent with conviction on a maintaining relationship count where the acquittals are explicable by the complainant's difficulty in fixing dates. Minor inconsistencies in a child complainant's evidence about repeated similar events over a long period do not render a conviction unsafe or unsatisfactory.
