Where an offender voluntarily discloses offences unknown to police, the Ellis discount applies in addition to any Cartwright/s 442B discount for assistance, and the voluntary disclosure is also weighty evidence of genuine contrition and rehabilitation prospects. When sentencing for multiple offences, it is undesirable for any individual sentence to be disproportionate to the seriousness of that offence relative to the maximum penalty; consideration should be given to partial accumulation rather than inflating a single sentence. On re-sentencing, the court must fix an appropriate sentence for each offence before considering totality, concurrence and accumulation per Pearce v R.
