A non-parole period of less than one-third of the head sentence for dangerous driving causing death with a circumstance of aggravation involving high-range alcohol, excessive speed, and severe consequences may be outside the scope of a proper sentencing discretion. Even a relatively modest variation of six months to a non-parole period may be justified on an Attorney-General's appeal where the circumstances warrant it.
