Independent evidence of opportunity for the commission of offences may explain different verdicts on different counts so as to avoid them being regarded as inconsistent under McKenzie v The Queen, but such evidence of opportunity does not render the complainant's evidence more credible on the counts of conviction than on the counts of acquittal for the purposes of the Jones v The Queen unreasonableness analysis. Evidence of mere opportunity to commit offences does not establish that the offences were committed.
