The guideline judgment in R v Henry & Ors for armed robbery applies to adult offenders and does not embrace the special considerations governing the sentencing of children. Even where a juvenile's offence constitutes grave adult behaviour, the sentencing court must give adequate weight to the offender's youth and background. The leniency afforded to a juvenile on account of disturbed background may be exhausted by further offending.
