UCPR 150(1) and 155 impose mandatory requirements to plead particulars of general and special damages in the statement of claim itself; it is insufficient to defer such particulars to a Statement of Loss and Damage under UCPR 547. Compliance with UCPR 444 pre-application notice requirements is expected before bringing a strike-out application, and good reason must be shown for the court to hear a non-compliant application. Damages particulars should preferably appear as allegations in the body of the statement of claim rather than only in the prayer for relief.
