Where an offender has already been substantially sentenced for procuring offences, cumulative sentences for maintaining unlawful sexual relationships involving conduct that was to a significant extent preparatory to the procuring offences must be moderated by the totality principle. The Court surveyed comparable authorities and found that overall sentences exceeding 13-14 years were not supported for this category of offending, even where the conduct was exceptionally depraved.
