A volunteer recipient of stolen or misapplied trust funds becomes subject to equitable obligations only upon acquiring knowledge of the fraudulent source, not upon receipt itself. The first four Baden categories suffice for knowing receipt. Where trust money has been dissipated and tracing is impossible, equity may order the recipient to account for the sums received. The question whether strict liability should be imposed on recipients of misapplied trust money was left open.
