A party is entitled to know the trial judge's final reasons before the time for serving a notice of appeal expires. Where a trial judge distributes only draft reasons, non-compliance with the formal requirements for a notice of appeal will not justify striking out the notice or dismissing the appeal without giving the appellant an opportunity to amend after final reasons are provided. A court of two judges on an interlocutory application cannot rule on the merits of grounds of appeal so as to prevent an appellant from challenging findings of fact.
