An affidavit under Part 51 rule 8 of the Supreme Court Rules must state facts demonstrating that the appeal involves a matter at issue of $100,000 or more; a statement of belief that the relevant amount is involved is insufficient and renders the appeal incompetent. Leave to appeal from the District Court will not be granted merely because the trial judge was arguably wrong; the applicant must demonstrate questions of principle, general public importance, or reasonably clear injustice.
