Where a registered mortgage contains self-contained covenants specifying the principal sum and interest rate, the mortgagee obtains an indefeasible interest securing those amounts even where the mortgagor's signature was forged. This is to be distinguished from cases where the mortgage refers to external documents that are themselves void, in which case the mortgage may secure nothing.
