The Queensland Court of Appeal upheld the striking off of a solicitor who was found guilty of professional misconduct for knowingly misleading a judge at a summary judgment hearing, knowingly relying on a false affidavit, misleading the court as to the financial position of a client's company, attempting to suborn a witness before the Solicitors' Complaints Tribunal, and knowingly making false claims to the Queensland Law Society. The Court rejected arguments that the denial of allegations resulted in a breach of natural justice, that fresh evidence should be admitted, and that the penalty of striking off was excessive in the circumstances.
