Where co-offenders play essentially equivalent roles in drug trafficking and there is no material difference in personal circumstances justifying disparity, a sentence of double the head sentence imposed on a co-offender will give rise to a justifiable sense of grievance and be reduced on appeal. The parity principle may require reduction to an inadequate sentence where the co-offender's sentence cannot be increased.
