Where all counts in a sexual offence trial depend entirely on the credibility of a single complainant and the jury acquits on all but one count, the conviction on the remaining count will be quashed as factually inconsistent unless there is something in the evidence or surrounding circumstances that rationally distinguishes the reliability of the complainant's evidence on that count from the others. A jury verdict in such circumstances will be inferred to be the product of compromise or error.
