Section 241(6)(e) of the Land Administration Act 1997 (WA) is constrained by the ejusdem generis rule and is confined to compensation for loss or damage resulting from interference with activities being carried on by the claimant on the land; it does not extend to professional fees incurred in assessing a compensation claim. Section 241(9) is confined to solatium under s 241(8) and does not create a separate general entitlement to compensation. The statutory scheme does not create actionable duties owed by the acquiring authority to the claimant for delay in examining claims or making offers; the remedy is to commence proceedings under s 221(1).
