Where a solicitor's professional conduct is directly in issue in litigation by reason of a plea such as failure to mitigate, the court may exercise its inherent jurisdiction to restrain the solicitor from acting without first determining the merits of that plea. A client's expressed wish for the solicitor to continue acting will not generally prevent the court from granting such an injunction.
