In sentencing for serious drug importation offences under s 233B of the Customs Act 1902 (Cth), an aggregate discount of 50% for both a guilty plea and substantial assistance to authorities is within the proper range. A discount of approximately 16.7% for substantial assistance alone is insufficient. Wholly consecutive sentences for two separate importations covering one period of criminality do not necessarily offend the totality principle.
