A sentencing judge is not bound to accept a psychiatrist's opinion that an offender has experienced remorse where the psychiatric report read as a whole supports a finding that the offender's feelings were primarily of depression and self-pity. Advanced age is a relevant but not determinative consideration in sentencing for serious drug importation offences where deterrence is the predominant sentencing objective.
