For conspiracy to injure by unlawful means, a plaintiff need only prove the conspiracy was aimed or directed at it — there is no requirement to prove the defendants had the dominant purpose of injuring the plaintiff, and self-interest is no defence. However, the tort remains actionable only on proof of pecuniary loss. Exemplary damages cannot be awarded where the underlying tort is not established because compensatory damages have not been proved.
