Where an occupier of land requests visitors to assist in an emergency such as a fire, it is reasonably foreseeable that those visitors may suffer injury including smoke inhalation and psychiatric harm. The fact that a visitor is an adult of full capacity who voluntarily responds to a request for help does not negate the occupier's breach of duty. An occupier who has devised an emergency plan but fails to implement it, and instead invites visitors into a zone of danger, breaches its duty of care to those visitors.
