Where armed robbery is committed against defenceless victims in a convenience store using a loaded firearm, and the offending is planned and premeditated, the aggravating circumstances may subrogate the mitigating force of the offender's youth, justifying a substantial custodial sentence. An offender's mental condition does not of itself warrant treating offences separated in time as one transaction for cumulation purposes.
