A building is used for 'residential purposes' under s 97(1) of the Standard Building Regulation 1993 (Qld) when its primary use is as a venue for functions normally undertaken in a dwelling — such as food preparation, washing, or sleeping — in a manner consistent with permanent or long-term use. Sleeping in the building is not essential; persistent use for other domestic functions suffices.
