Common purpose is not terminated merely because the planned offence is 'called off' — it extends to escape from the scene of the planned offence. Life imprisonment without a non-parole period may be appropriate for the murder of police officers in the execution of duty where the offender shows no remorse and has poor rehabilitation prospects.
