Where co-offenders plead guilty to an offence involving joint criminal responsibility for the use of a weapon, the sentencing judge should generally not distinguish between them based on which offender physically used the weapon. A 2-year disparity between co-offenders' sentences for the same aggravated armed robbery, not explicable by differences in circumstances, gives rise to a justifiable sense of grievance warranting appellate intervention.
