When applying s 16BA of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth), the form should refer to only one offence to avoid double counting the same matters across multiple sentences. Sentencing judges must calculate and impose discounted sentences rather than imposing undiscounted sentences and purporting to apply a global discount. Federal sentences may be backdated where the offender has been in custody, applying State commencement of sentence laws via s 16E(1).
