A disability may be found to be permanent notwithstanding the theoretical possibility of future surgical treatment, where there is no sensible reason to expect the worker will undergo that surgery. The test for permanence remains whether the disability is likely to continue indefinitely, having regard to current knowledge about available treatment and the individual worker's circumstances.
