Where security staff at licensed premises conscientiously assess that an evicted aggressive patron has calmed down and departed, and take steps to separate the parties and stagger their departures, the duty of reasonable care does not require additional measures such as monitoring car park entrances, further time delays, or personal escort of the victim to their vehicle. A finding of breach in such circumstances constitutes impermissible hindsight reasoning. The question whether operators of licensed premises owe a non-delegable duty of care to patrons was left open.
