A Longman direction need not use the words 'warning', 'dangerous' or 'unsafe' to be adequate; the question is whether what was said by the trial judge adequately safeguarded the defendant against an unfair trial in the circumstances. In intrafamilial sexual offence cases involving multiple complainants who are siblings, the bare possibility of collusion arising from the family relationship is insufficient to exclude cross-admissibility; a reasonable possibility of concoction based on factual foundation is required.
