The Court of Appeal has jurisdiction under s 66 of the Supreme Court Act 1970 to grant mandatory interim injunctions ancillary to applications for certiorari under s 69, including stays of the decision below and injunctions to preserve the status quo or grant ancillary relief. However, the Court takes a restrictive view of s 69 applications to review District Court decisions on appeal from the Children's Court, and will only exercise such power in extraordinary circumstances.
