Lack of recollection of the events giving rise to a criminal charge does not, of itself, provide a basis for withdrawal of a guilty plea where there is no body of evidence of which the accused was ignorant that might call guilt into question. A defence of accident is not available where the accused armed himself with a weapon and pursued the victim, even if the accused has no recollection of the actual stabbing.
