For a recidivist sexual offender who pleads guilty to maintaining a sexual relationship with a child and related offences involving multiple child victims aged 5-9, grave breaches of trust, and a lengthy criminal history of sexual offending, the applicable sentencing range is 8 to 10 years imprisonment. The mitigating force of cooperation and admissions to police is lessened by demonstrated recidivism and lack of insight. A sentencing court must not have regard to whether the offender may become subject to an application under the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 (Qld).
