A car park operator's duty of care to users requires at least hourly inspections of the car park surface for hazards such as oil or grease spillages on busy evenings, where the operator already has an attendant on duty and the burden of such inspections is minimal. A building manager who is or should be on notice of a fault in an alarm system designed to warn of grease trap overflow must institute interim inspections pending repair. A party tendering documentary evidence must explain its relevance and the basis for its admissibility at trial; failure to do so ordinarily precludes reliance on alternative grounds of admissibility on appeal.
