For culpable driving causing death at mid to high culpability, a youth justice centre order is not an available sentencing option even for a young offender with strong mitigatory factors. General deterrence and denunciation must prevail over rehabilitation for young offenders convicted of culpable driving, and some degree of cumulation is required where multiple deaths result from a single course of driving.
