Special leave to adduce additional evidence on appeal from an Associate Justice under r 77.06(7)(b) does not require proof of 'special circumstances' or 'special grounds' in the strict sense, but does require a satisfactory explanation for why the evidence was not adduced at first instance. A party who fails to comply with a self-executing order and provides no adequate explanation for non-compliance will not be relieved of the consequences, even where the result is that the proceedings become undefended and the party faces bankruptcy.
