Co-operation with authorities between plea and sentence, even if limited, constitutes admissible fresh evidence warranting a sentence discount, principally to encourage informing and to reflect the danger of being an informer. The Beck Inventory Test administered over a two-week period proximate to awareness of a lengthy gaol term is insufficient to found a diagnosis of depression for sentencing purposes. A plea of guilty alone does not establish remorse; a sentencing judge cannot be criticised for failing to meet a case for remorse put for the first time on appeal.
