Proceedings will be struck out for want of prosecution where the plaintiff has failed to comply with orders to particularise claims, failed to file a reply to defences, and caused inordinate delay resulting in prejudice to the defendant, even where the plaintiff's difficulties are partly attributable to inability to obtain consistent legal representation. An appeal against costs orders consequent upon a strike-out will not succeed where the proposed grounds do not address the House v The King requirements for demonstrating error in the exercise of discretion.
