Sentences of over 50% of the maximum penalty on rolled-up counts are not necessarily manifestly excessive where each count embraces substantial criminality involving multiple transactions and large sums. The distillation of numerous individual offences into rolled-up counts works to the advantage of the accused by reducing the theoretical maximum aggregate sentence. Assertions made from the Bar table in mitigation that are not supported by evidence may be rejected by the sentencing judge.
