Unprovoked, random violence committed in company at night causing serious long-term injuries to victims can justify immediate imprisonment for a juvenile offender notwithstanding youth, limited prior record, early guilty plea, and reasonable prospects of rehabilitation. The youth and rehabilitation prospects of the offender may be reflected in the length of the sentence rather than in its suspension.
