A sentencing judge may decline to reduce a sentence on account of an offender's youth where the offender is in their early to mid-twenties, has a reasonably extensive criminal record, has not responded to previous rehabilitative sentences, and the offending is serious — even though the prior record and failed sentences are not themselves aggravating factors.
