Section 588FF(3)(b) of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) permits the making of shelf orders — general orders extending the time for a liquidator to bring voidable transaction proceedings without specifying particular transactions or parties. A party affected by a shelf order who had no notice of its making does not have a right ex debito justitiae to have it set aside; the court retains a discretion under UCPR r 36.16(2)(b). Provisions conferring powers on courts, including s 588FF(3)(b), are to be given a liberal construction.
