A Bromley direction regarding a witness with mental illness need not warn that it is dangerous to convict on uncorroborated evidence; it is sufficient to direct the jury to take care in assessing the witness's evidence, particularly where not supported by other evidence. Fraud involving the deliberate establishment of a scheme to dupe members of the public, as distinct from employee misappropriation, is at the more serious end of the scale. Parity assessment requires consideration of all components of sentences including parole eligibility dates, but differences in plea, role, and circumstances may justify significant disparity.
