An adult child who has callously withheld love and support from a terminally ill parent, adopted an itinerant lifestyle without leaving contact details, and shown no insight into his own conduct may be found to have no entitlement to further provision beyond a small legacy. A grandchild whom the deceased never met, whose disabilities were not substantiated by medical evidence, and whose parent bears the primary moral obligation for maintenance, has no claim against the grandparent's estate. Assertions by an applicant as to financial resources and a dependent's disabilities must be substantiated by documentary and medical evidence.
