An injunction under s 232 of the ACL requires sufficient relevant connexion between the impugned misleading conduct and the injunction sought, determined by evaluative judgment. The ACL's public interest protection does not extend to granting injunctions designed to prevent government infrastructure projects from proceeding where the connexion between the misleading conduct and the harm from the project is fortuitous and tenuous. Refusal of an interim injunction does not render proceedings nugatory where declaratory relief and corrective advertising remain available.
