The relevant distinction in assessing the adequacy of pleaded imputations is between an imprecise imputation and a specific one, not between a general imputation and a specific one. Epithets such as 'corrupt' and 'serious corporate misconduct' are nebulous and may have significantly different shades of meaning; where the matter complained of contains a range of specific allegations, contextual imputations using such terms without further specification will be struck out as impermissibly imprecise, even where the defendant contends no further refinement is possible. The same standard of precision applies to contextual imputations as to plaintiff's imputations.
