Where a jury convicts on some sexual offence counts but acquits on others involving the same complainant, the verdicts are not inconsistent where there is a reasonable basis for distinguishing between the incidents — particularly where one incident is supported by extrinsic evidence (phone records, early complaint) and the other is not. An acquittal on some counts does not necessarily reflect an adverse view of the complainant's credibility. The timing evidence of defence witnesses whose recollections were based on usual practice rather than independent recollection of the specific day was properly a matter for the jury to assess.
