A combined discount of 30 percent for a guilty plea and assistance to authorities was upheld where the assistance, while involving information leading to seizure of explosives and information about murders, shootings and drug activities, was assessed as low to medium intelligence value, did not result in the applicant giving evidence, and did not lead to arrests in most matters. The case confirms that the provision of assistance to authorities does not automatically or in all cases lead to harsher custodial conditions, and that the combined discount for plea and assistance should not normally exceed 50 percent.
