Where a Longman direction has been given in clear terms regarding delay, a separate Robinson direction is not required merely because the complainant was a child at the time of the offences, unless there is some additional forensic disadvantage apparent to the judge but not obvious to the jury. Giving such a direction risks infringing s 632(3) of the Criminal Code (Qld) by suggesting that children are unreliable witnesses.
