Questions posed by trustees seeking judicial directions under RSC 54.02 must be framed with sufficient precision to enable the Court to answer them; overly broad or indeterminate questions that ask the Court to identify or predict circumstances will be dismissed as hypothetical. Trustees who persist with deficient applications after being warned of their deficiencies risk being denied indemnity from trust funds for costs. What constitutes sufficient compliance with a trustee's obligation to provide information to beneficiaries depends on the details and breadth of the information requested and the justification for its provision viewed objectively; provision of audited accounts alone may not suffice.
