There is no tariff for a discount for cooperation with law enforcement authorities in Western Australia, and the two-thirds discount suggested by McGarvie J in R v Perrier (No 2) does not represent good authority, having been disapproved in Victoria and never endorsed in WA. A 50% discount for cooperation, in addition to a 25% discount for an early guilty plea, was held not to be plainly unreasonable or unjust where the offender played an integral role in a sophisticated large-scale drug distribution network. A sentencing judge's finding of mixed motives (financial gain and intimidation) is not erroneous where the evidence supports both motivations operating concurrently.
